  Overview

The sweet sounds of the Grammy-award winning Mormon Tabernacle Choir are a must-hear for all visitors to Salt Lake City. The 335-voice choir performs twice weekly in the Tabernacle on Historic Temple Square. Visitors are invited to listen free of charge, to rehearsals, every Thursday from 8:00 – 9:30 p.m. or during regular broadcasts every Sunday of “Music and the Spoken Word.” The program is broadcast on both radio and television and heard by millions. Performances start at 9:30 a.m. and audience members must be seated by 9:15.

If you’re lucky enough to visit Utah during the Christmas season, try to catch a performance of the Utah Symphony at Deer Valley Resort. During the fall and the rest of the winter, this 12th-largest orchestra in the United States, performs at its permanent home, Abravanel Hall.

A night at the opera couldn’t be finer, when the Utah Opera performs one of its grand productions. The company promotes knowledge and appreciation of the opera and provides opportunities for promising young artists.
